Description
Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission is a local county government park system with 10,000 acres of parklands and greenspace, a $40 million dollar annual budget, 175 Full Time Employees and 650 seasonal part time employees. The agency operates large regional day parks, beach parks, fishing piers, boat landings, an equestrian center, a marina, a campground, a climbing wall, and offers extensive recreation programming including canoeing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, summer camps, a challenge course with high and low ropes, and a 50' high alpine tower. It is our mission to improve the quality of life in Charleston County by offering such a diverse system of parks, facilities and programs. An intern wiht CCPRC will experience all elements of the park system. This internship is a 12 week experience with a flexible starting and ending time.
Responsibilities
Responsible for developing and implementing a project in partial satisfaction of a graduate degree in interpretation, environmental studies, history, or a related field at an accredited university. Potential projects may include, but are not limited to, natural history interpretation, cultural interpretation, environmental education, measuring the success of new and established programs, creating interpretive signs, analyzing data, attracting underserved audiences to park programs, or participating in natural or cultural history research.
Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled and attending a college or university, taking classes towards earning a MASTER'S DEGREE.
