The work study student assists in various positions throughout the campus. These include Financial Aid Assistant, Placement Office, Library, Student Services, Tutor, Security, and Teacher's Assistant.
Key Job Responsibilities
Financial Aid Assistant: Assist with Default Management, schedule appointments, assist with loan entrance and exit interviews, prepare packets for FA appointments, help students complete paperwork, mail document request letters, assist in completing verification, contact students regarding upcoming FA appointments, deadlines and missing information, and other duties required in the FA office.
Placement Office: Assist with job orders, call students and employers to set up interviews, update weekly posting, send out survey mailings, assist in gathering part-time employment leads from newspapers, assist with mail outs to grads concerning upcoming events, assist in developing resumes/cover letters, faxing resumes.
Library: Organize library shelves and materials, check out books, process returning books in bookstore, inventory of bookstore, stock shelves with merchandise, sell books and supplies to students, display merchandise, provide helpful and friendly assistance.
Student Services: Make student ID's, sort and distribute student mail, assist with student graduation ceremonies, assist with student surveys, assist with school newspaper, assist in publishing director's list of students who achieve academic or attendance excellence. Prepare director or dean's list certificates, prepare orientation materials for enrolled students.
Tutor: Tutor students who desire more individualized instruction in problem areas or course work, tutor students for test after lectures, assist students during class instruction, assist student with technology questions and aid in network, computer, and classroom equipment and peripherals, assist with students homework, papers, studying or projects, assist students with low averages or test scores.
Security: Assist Security Officer by patrolling campus building and grounds to prevent possible incidents of theft, vandalism and disorderly conduct; ensure buildings are locked or unlocked as appropriate, assist students with problems with keys, locks and doors, escort students to their cars at night, ticket cars parked in unauthorized areas on school property, issue parking permits, check visitors ID's, report security incidents and unusual situation on campus to appropriate official.
Teacher's Assistant: Assist instructors in work related to the instructor's official academic duties at the school, such as: preparing lessons, compiling data, lab set-up, demonstrations and simulations, set-up/remove classroom equipment, exam scheduling, and assisting students in completing assignments.
Other duties as assigned.
