We are a Kombucha micro-brewery based in Portland, Oregon. We sell our kombucha in natural food stores, groceries, cafes, bars, movie theatres and food carts. We are looking for an intern to assist in brewery operations, including mixing flavors for our product, bottling our kombucha and assisting in sanitation of equipment. There is also an option of attending natural food events/networking spaces if the intern seems to have experience in this area as well. This is an opportunity to see how a micro-brewery operates in an incredibly exciting time for naturally fermented beverages. The Kombucha industry is booming--and we are a brewery that is helping to shape what the industry will look like in the future. This is open to current students or graduates.
The intern will be expected to shadow our main brewer to gain an understanding of the process in large scale Kombucha production. They will learn the ins and outs from the brewing process to the carbonation process to the bottling to the final product. They will be expected to be punctual, clean, respectful with attention to detail and an appreciation for the craft of fermentation. Being able to lift 50 pounds is crucial. The intern will also learn the science behind the fermentation process, taking daily pH of the Kombucha throughout the fermentation period. The intern should like kombucha! You will be tasting tons of it!
Must haves include an Oregon Food Handlers License. Experience with fermented foods and beverages a plus, but not required. Experience in restaurants also a plus.
