MT. PLEASANT, MICHIGAN, USA:
EnviroScience, Inc. offers summer internships in our Lake Management division as part of the Milfoil Solution® program. This innovative biological control utilizes a native insect, the milfoil weevil, to manage Eurasian watermilfoil, an invasive aquatic plant. Students will experience hands-on opportunities in a unique industry while based at our Mt. Pleasant, Michigan summer laboratory and culturing facility.
Hourly pay rate ranging from part-time to full-time, June and July are busiest months with most potential for full-time and overtime hours. Position starts in May and will last until late July/early August – we are flexible with student schedules!

Responsibilities
Lab Responsibilities
• Maintain aquatic plant and insect cultures
• Identify insect life stages
• Collect plants from local lakes
• Microscope experience preferred
Field Responsibilities
• Stock native biocontrol in lakes and rivers
• Data collection and mapping
• Some potential for overnight travel
• Boating and snorkeling experience preferred
Requirements
- Must be located near Mt. Pleasant, Michigan
- Must be pursuing a degree or have recently graduated in one of the following or a related field: Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, Conservation, Natural Resources, Earth Sciences
- Must be able to swim
- Must be able to work long hours when necessary
- Experience with boating and snorkeling is helpful, but not required
- Experience working with microscopes is helpful, but not required
