The Supervision & Regulation (S&R) Department is responsible for supervising and regulating state-chartered banks that are members of the Federal Reserve System, bank holding companies, and financial holding companies. Organizations within the boundaries of the Seventh District are located within portions of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and all of Iowa. The S&R Large Institutions division provides continuous supervision for financial institutions facing more complex areas of risks within our district, including large thrifts, State Farm and Principal Financial. The Dodd-Frank Act enhanced the role of the Federal Reserve in the supervision of Financial Market Utilities (FMUs), which contribute to financial market stability by facilitating post-trade processing and the exchange of funds or other assets from one party to another. The FMU team is also within the Large Institutions division. This internship is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and provides bright students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.
