Summary of Role:

SunPower’s Legal Department is seeking two summer interns to assist with support of our vertically-integrated solar business.  The Legal Intern will assist attorneys throughout SunPower’s global Legal Department in advising internal clients on day-to-day matters as well as more strategic projects throughout the summer in close collaboration with SunPower’s Legal team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include assisting with the following (other duties may be assigned):

–        Advise internal clients during negotiations throughout SunPower’s operations

–        Review and revise term sheets and commercial contracts

–        Perform diligence and other MA support activities

–        Draft filings for Securities and Exchange Commission

–        Draft patent applications, trademark registrations and joint development agreements

–        Conduct in internal investigations

–        Conduct in discovery and other litigation phases

–        Research legal issues

–        Draft and revise forms and templates

–        Develop and revise policies and procedures

–        Assess and advise on implementation of cutting-edge systems and best practices

–        Develop budgets and project plans

Minimum Requirements:

–        Completion of at least one year of a J.D. program at an ABA-accredited law school

–        Undergraduate degree

–        Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with members of different business groups and functions of a global company at all levels

–        Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver results

–        Ability to promote positive cooperation within the legal team, with internal clients, and with outside counsel

–        Excellent written and verbal communication skills

–        Motivated and proactive self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work efficiently with diverse teams

Preferred Requirements:

–        Able to engage in domestic travel as needed

–        Legal experience at a firm or previous in-house role is a plus

–        Registration with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office is a plus
