Advance New York has many opportunities for volunteer interns to both contribute to our advocacy work and learn about influencing the legislative process. As an intern for Advance New York, you can expect to learn about legislative drafting and editing; managing a start-up, grassroots not-for-profit; building credibility among legislators, and building constituent pressure on target advocacy issues. Duties will likely include: -Research on legislators and legislative districts -drafting press releases and letters to the editor -managing a social media presence -advertisement design, petition building, and direct lobbying. Interns will be expected to telecommute most of the time, and to participate in direct advocacy at legislator offices both in your district and in Albany.
