APT Institute offers an internship opportunity to college and graduate students, as well as recent graduates. This internship experience can help those interested in the world of museums and galleries, art administration and preservation and the intersection of the art and finance worlds to gain experience in a dynamic and innovative setting, preparing them for a future career in the field.

APT Institute is a non-profit organization founded in 2013 by the Artist Pension Trust® (APT). Responding to the need among contemporary artists for global exposure and recognition of their artwork, APT Institute introduces a series of
initiatives dedicated to the promotion of contemporary art and the advancement of artists worldwide. APT Institute will be guided in its efforts by a world-class Advisory Board who will help us realize our vision. The position is available in Van Nuys this summer. Intern’s will get hands-on experience covering various aspects of the department from facilitating loan applications to maintaining relations with museums and institutions. Most critical is successfully promoting the APT Institute and our new non-profit status to US and South America based curators, museums and institutions. Details of the internship are flexible, successful applicants will be presented new opportunities and projects along the way depending on their special interest and talent. Intern will be connected and supported by telecommunicating with APT locations across the globe. Intern’s will receive support and advice from the team and our Director, regular contact and review meetings will be held.


Responsibilities

- Promoting loans from APT Collection to curators, museums and institutions
­- Market research in the Americas / European region
­- Maintaining relationships with museums and institutions
­- Facilitating loan inquires and applications
-­ Post­exhibition follow up with borrowing institutions
­- Assisting APT exhibitions

Requirements

Applicants should have knowledge in visual arts and excellent interpersonal skills and work ethic. Basic computing skills and administrative sense is also required. Intern must be bilingual (Spanish and English, Portuguese is a plus) as well.
