Description

IMPORTANT NOTE - applications MUST be submitted through the CENTERSTAGE website. Applications submitted through this site will not be accepted. APPLY at www.centerstage.org/Education/ProfessionalInternshipProgram.aspx THE MANAGEMENT INTERN works with the Managing Director and Associate Managing Director in all aspects of theater administration. The intern’s work will fall into two categories: special projects and ongoing assignments. Special projects will be fluid and in response to circumstance. In the recent past they have included assisting with strategic planning; designing and launching the Board Observership Program (in which trustees are invited to observe the production process); writing a funding proposal; and conducting field-wide best practice research. Ongoing assignments might include conducting donor prospect research; compiling and distributing CENTERSTAGE’s biweekly newsletter to trustees; coordinating the Board Observership Program; maintaining administrative accounts and concessions reconciliation; and tracking job and internship applications. The ideal candidate for the Management Internship has a bachelor’s degree, some professional experience, and/or a graduate degree. Strong organizational skills and the ability to shift gears to take on new challenges are important. Excellent writing skills and the ability to create an attractive and effective work product—be it text, spreadsheet, power point, or multimedia—are also essential. ABOUT THE PROFESSIONAL INTERNSHIP PROGRAM Graduating college seniors and recent graduates are invited to apply to CENTERSTAGE’s 2013-14 Professional Internship Program, which provides hands-on experience and professional guidance to early-career artists, craftspeople, and administrators. Interns at the Baltimore-based LORT B/C theater work full time from mid-August to early June, enjoying benefits that include free housing, a weekly stipend, networking opportunities, and professional development. OTHER INTERNSHIP DISCIPLINES Artistic Director; Artistic and Dramaturgy; Audience Relations; Audio; Carpentry; Community Programs and Education; Company Management; Costumes; Digital Media; Graphics; Lighting; Marketing/Public Relations; Production Management/Stage Management; Properties; Scenic Art; and Stage Management.
