DescriptionThe March of Dimes is the leading organization for pregnancy and baby health. We are dedicated to improving the health of babies through research, community service, education and advocacy. We help moms have full-term pregnancies and research the problems that threaten the health of babies. In local communities across the country, the March of Dimes is helping moms take charge of their health and supporting families when something goes wrong. The March of Dimes also acts globally: sharing best practices in perinatal health and helping improve birth outcomes where the needs are the most urgent.
The March of Dimes Colorado is rapidly expanding its internship program to include multiple positions for experienced and passionate individuals who can contribute to the organization in meaningful ways. Interns are an important part of our team and will have the opportunity to work in an exciting and fast-paced environment on a variety of projects. We have several different internship positions available which will provide hands-on experience in a variety of functions including: marketing and communications, event planning and support, sales, corporate development, community outreach, grant writing, volunteer development, public affairs and fundraising.
We offer a flexible schedule that can accommodate college courses and other work schedules. Each internship position will require a minimum of 15-20 hours per week.
ResponsibilitiesSpecific esponsibilities will depend upon the department in which the intern wishes to be placed.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Must be able to work under pressure and short deadlines.
* Must be able to organize and prioritize workload.
* Must take initiative.
* Must possess excellent time management skills.
* Ability to work independently.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
* Senior level college student preferred or junior with other applicable internship experience.
* College graduate with a four-year degree or MBA
* Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and strong Internet research skills
Must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, strong Internet research skills, ability to multi-task and work efficiently to meet deadlines, ability to work closely with team members, exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail, and must have a positive attitude that appreciates the value of working in a nonprofit environment. Must have transportation to work in the chapter office located at 1325 S. Colorado Blvd., Denver, CO.
