Position: Marketing and Public Relations Internship

About the Internship Position:
Save The Bay seeks a highly motivated individual to support Save The Bay's marketing and public relations initiatives. The position will serve as an assistant to the Communications Department, working on photo documentation, event publicity and writing articles and press releases. This internship will be approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Compensation/Scheduling/Additional Requirements:
Save The Bay Internships are unpaid, but are available for college credit. Save The Bay will work with your university to ensure that all steps are taken to fulfill any credit requirements. The Marketing & Public Relations Internship is a minimum of 21 hours a week, but additional days may be added to fulfill any university course/credit requirements. Preference will be given to students who are interested in multi-semester internship at 21 hours per week. All Save The Bay Interns are required to work at the Save The Bay Swim. You will need to be available on Saturday, July 28 from 6 am to 1 pm.

Applications must be received by March 18, 2012. Interviews will begin in the early part of March. Once a candidate is selected for the position, they will be notified by telephone and a confirmation letter will be sent by mail. If you are not selected for an internship, Save The Bay encourages you to volunteer with us and apply again in the future.
Requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
• Take photographs at key Save The Bay events and programs.
• Assist with the creation and distribution of press releases for event, policy and program promotion.
• Pitch stories to local media via phone and email.
• Maintain media archive of Save The Bay related articles and interviews
• Research and write articles for the Tides newsletter.
• Other responsibilities as they arise.
Qualifications:
• College students, recent graduates, graduate students or beginning professionals working towards or having obtained a BA/BS or higher degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field.
• Grade point average of 2.75 or higher out of 4.0
• A demonstrated commitment to the local environment
• Computer experience (MS Office, database spreadsheet)
Skills:
• Strong writing, editing and communication skills
• Photography experience
• A highly motivated self -starter
• A positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment and independently
• Well organized and efficient
• Work well in a high-energy, fast paced environment
• Willing to do some manual labor, lifting, and get dirty
• Comfortable making contact with the general public on Save The Bay’s behalf.
