Doctors provide primary care, diagnosis, management and follow-up for well and ill infants and children. Office hours are typically from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some offices have evening and Saturday hours. We offer many career opportunities.

Gather information, assess and provide direct care to patients.
Demonstrates Creating SMILES philosophies to patients, families and co-workers. Assist in the collection of patient and family data (biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural and environmental); collect and document vital signs, height/weight and reason for visit; graph data; document current medications, allergies and other information. Provides general patient care; prepare patient for exam; assist provider during treatments, examinations and tests; complete treatments/lab; document interventions; call in prescription refills; take messages and return calls from parents; keep rooms stocked with supplies. Administer medication and immunizations; assist with education of patient and family; coordinate referrals; screens patient phone calls. Collects Specimens and Performs Laboratory Tests.
Knowledge and Skills:
Fundamental knowledge of pediatric assessment and treatment required. Knowledge of related OSHA, CLIA/COLA and Joint Commission guidelines and requirements, general office tasks, confidentiality and filing systems also required. The ability to use a thermometer, scales, sphygmomanometer/stethoscope, butterfly needles, hearing/vision screening equipment, pulse oximetry, typanometer and basic laboratory equipment (microscope, centrifuge, hematology analyzer and specimen collection). Proficiency with treatments (nebulizer, ear irrigation and dressing changes) and familiar with all business office machines (computer, multi-line telephone, copier and fax).
Education and Experience:
High school graduate, GED or equivalent and also graduation from an accredited school of medical assisting. Minimum of 12 months to 2 years of related work experience preferred. CPR certification preferred
