Who We Are Outreach Community Ministries is an interdenominational community service organization, striving to put Christian faith into responsible action. The organization has been called into existence by local churches to respond supportively to the needs of young people and their families. The organization is committed to providing excellence in human services and demonstrating compassion for the whole person. Outreach Community Ministries also offers services through Warrenville Youth & Family Services (WYFS) and The Outreach Community Center in Carol Stream (OCC). Human Resources Department The primary goals of the Human Resources Department is to provide support and leadership around the development and maintenance of a quality staff team. The activities are the human resources department include: 1) attracting, selecting, training, assessing and recognizing staff 2) attracting, selecting, training and assessing interns 3) oversight and implementation of a compensation and benefits program 4) diversity work 5) ensuring compliance with employment and labor laws 6) organizational communication and contributing to a culture of encouragement and support.

Responsibilities

The intern will be exposed to most aspects of human resources management and work closely with the two-member Human Resource Department team. Intern responsibilities may include: planning and implementation of staff events focused on staff recognition, fun, diversity and/ or training; contributing to hiring process by mailing out job postings, placing job postings on websites, scheduling interviews, conducting phone interviews, assisting with staff and intern recruitment efforts, and observing in-person interviews; researching human resources topics related to work place safety, compensation and benefits, hiring trends and more. The intern will also attend diversity meetings and staff meetings.

Requirements

Human Resources internships are available for students enrolled in a bachelors or masters program. Strong organizational skills are required with basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Some social service or volunteer experience preferred. Applicants must be supportive of the agency’s statement of Mission and Faith. Interns must provide their own transportation.
