Advanced Midwest Institute for Counseling & Psychotherapy’s mission is to provide a full-service counseling center that seeks to provide our clients with the highest level of care using compassion and empathy. This is achieved through the integration of various forms of psychotherapy, counseling and life coaching designed to help clients reach their goals effectively. AMI Counseling specializes in providing outpatient mental and behavioral health services to individuals, children, teens, adults and couples/families.

Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES: •Answer phones, respond to patient requests, and follow up with discharged patients. •Complete initial intake (over the phone) and schedule new patients with appropriate therapist. •Obtain quote of benefits from patient’s insurance companies, submitting insurance claims and following up with unpaid claims. •Manage patient database, including scheduling, creating patient visits, and entering payments. •Handle patient co-pays at time of service by recording payment and printing superbill/receipt. •Assist therapists with scheduling changes, maintaining office supplies and other necessary day to day operations. MINOR DUTIES: •Make copies, file patient chart information, and keep track of authorization requests. •Organize therapist tools: such as maintaining play therapy equipment, creating handouts and educational materials.

Requirements

•Ability to present self in professional manner at all times in person and over the phone. •Ability to work independently while communicating with Clinical Director and other staff as needed. •Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. •Must profess computer proficiency; knowledge of medical billing codes and HCFA 1500 a plus. •Position is unpaid, will work with your college to obtain course credit.
