Montgomery County Renters Alliance
The Montgomery County Renters Alliance, Inc. (MCRA), is looking for highly energetic, personable and intelligent interns to work this spring and summer reaching out to renters throughout the MoCo, Maryland area. The MCRA is a new non-profit dedicated to strengthening renters' rights and security. The MCRA plans to build the alliance by collecting contact information for at least 10,000 renters who live in the County as well as encourage and support the creation of tenants associations among other activities. MCRA Interns will set up information tables at Metro stops, community events and go door to door to distribute MCRA literature and gather renter contact information, input databases as well as other duties.
MCRA Interns will develop a work plan and execute that plan. Plans will include developing targets including a schedule of table and event sites and building visits.
Must be energetic and intelligent with at least two years of college and/or experience. Possess a good work ethic and be able to work independently and with the public. Knowledge of campaigning and canvassing a plus. Must have strong knowledge of computers and Excel. A good sense of humor is also important and support for the MCRA mission of keeping rental housing affordable, advancing renters' rights and security is essential. Qualified interns with a driver's license and access to a car will be preferred, but not required. Interns should have their own cell phones and lap tops.
