Description
This includes daily care of ranch animals (cleaning, feeding, habitat maintenance, medical care, etc) and participation in our Education program (working field trips & open to the public days). Species you will be working with include (but are not limited to): kangaroos, lemurs, camels, monkeys, bobcats, porcupines, sloths, horses, zebra, etc.
Part time internship is 18-20 hours a week. Full time internship is 40 hrs a week. One live-on site position is available & is full time. Two live off site positions available. Weekly gas stipend for live off site positions. No gas stipend for live-on site position.
Responsibilities
Ranch Overview:
Non profit 501(c) 3 educational wildlife facility. We are USDA licensed and hold a TPWD Zoological Permit. We provide zoos with rare and endangered species for their programs/exhibits. We run reservation-only field trips(that book up over a year in advance) Mon-Fri mornings and are open to the public on Saturdays & Sundays. We are best known for our Dirty Jobs episodes and our appearances with Jack Hanna.
Requirements
•Must be 18 or older
•Must have EITHER completed/working towards a degree in an animal or education related field or are interested in a career working with animals.
•Must be of good health and physical endurance.
•Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
•Must be willing to work in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
•Must be able to work 5-6 days a week, including up to 2 night shifts (till 1am) per week for a minimum of 10 weeks.
•Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
•Must work well in a team environment.
•Must be a good listener and able to follow directions.
•Must be responsible and willing to work hard.
•Must love working with animals and people.
