Wanted: Financial Accounting instructor
Financial Accounting is a sophomore-level college class that covers the accounting cycle (general journal entries, adjusting journal entries, general ledger accounts), and the preparation of financial statements (income statement, statement of retained earnings, balance sheet and the statement of cash flows). The course also reviews each major item on the balance sheet in detail, such as cash, accounts receivables, inventory, property, plant and equipment, bonds, and common stock. Applicants should possess a bachelors or masters degree in accounting or a related subject; a minimum of five years of accounting work experience; a demonstrated ability to teach college students. A CPA license, CMA certification, or other professional certification would be helpful. Leadership and active involvement in professional societies such as the California Society of CPAs, the Institute of Management Accountants, or similar organizations would be helpful.
Wanted: Managerial Accounting instructor
Managerial Accounting is a sophomore-level college class that covers product costing, activity based costing, cost volume process analysis, budgeting and variance analysis. The course also reviews how to use accounting information for decision making. Applicants should possess a bachelors or masters degree in accounting or a related subject; a minimum of five years of accounting work experience; a demonstrated ability to teach college students. A CPA license, CMA certification, or other professional certification would be helpful. Leadership and active involvement in professional societies such as the California Society of CPAs, the Institute of Management Accountants, or similar organization would be helpful.
Wanted: Individual Income Taxes instructor
Individual Income Taxes is a sophomore-level college class that covers the preparation of Federal and California income tax returns for individuals. Topics include income tax law and the preparation of Form 1040 (Individual), Schedules A (Itemized Deductions), B (Interest and Dividends), C (Profit or Loss from a Business), D (Capital Gains and Losses), and tax credits. Students who successfully complete this course may apply to CTEC, the California Tax Education Council, to become a Registered Tax Preparer in California. This course is primarily a forms-based class designed to give students the skills to succeed as an entry-level tax preparer. The course also includes the use tax software such as Lacerte. Applicants should possess a bachelors or masters degree in accounting, taxation or a related subject; a minimum of ten years of tax preparation experience; a demonstrated ability to teach college students. A CPA license, EA license, or other professional certification would be helpful. Leadership and active involvement in professional societies such as the California Society of CPAs, the Golden Gate Chapter of Enrolled Agents, or similar organizations would be helpful. Duties and Responsibilities: Essential functions include the following:
-Teach college-level evening courses in Financial Accounting and/or Income Tax Preparation courses during the Spring 2012 semester;
-Consult with students during regularly scheduled office and lab hours;
-Maintain expertise in current teaching methodologies and curricula; and
-Perform other professional duties as required by contract and general institutional needs. Requirements: 1. Possession of a Master's degree in accounting or business administration with an accounting emphasis from an accredited institution OR Bachelor's degree in business with accounting emphasis or business administration with accounting emphasis or economics with accounting emphasis AND Master's in business, business education, taxation, or finance OR Bachelor's degree with a CPA license OR the equivalent.
2. Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.

Professional Achievement Equivalence: Outstanding professional achievement or substantial training in the field specified in the job announcement. Preparation, experience, and ability must be equivalent to those expected from a candidate who meets minimum qualifications. Desirable Skills and Abilities: Preference will be given to candidates who:
1. Recent successful experience in teaching or preparation to teach college-level courses in Accounting
2. Understanding and commitment to the role and purpose of the community college
3. Knowledge of the use of technology in teaching
4. Ability to use and develop teaching methods that emphasize cooperation and collaboration, and engage students actively in learning, encouraging them to become independent, creative learners with higher-order thinking skills
5. Ability to organize and explain materials in ways appropriate to students with different abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experiences
6. Ability to develop instructional learning outcomes and to develop methods for assessing student's achievement of these outcomes
7. Ability to organize and teach both theoretical and practical applications of the subject-matter in ways appropriate to students' abilities
