Description

General Statement: This is an ongoing application pool for Instructors that is reviewed on an as needed basis. As Instructors are needed to teach specific courses at the campuses, selections will be made from among this pool of applicants for all campuses- Skyline College, College of San Mateo, Cañada College. If you do not receive a response this could be because there is no position at a particular campus available at the present time or that the position/s have already been filled.

District Selection Process: Required application materials will be screened by a committee on the basis of Requirements and Desirable Skills and Abilities listed in this announcement. Candidates for interview will be selected from among those who most closely meet the Requirements and Desirable Skills and Abilities. Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee an interview. As part of the interview process, candidates will be asked to give a classroom lecture/demonstration.   Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions include the following:
Teach college courses in Art. A strong interest and ability to teach Art courses is required. In addition faculty are required to assist in currculum revisions and new course development, consult with students during office and lab hours and maintain expertise in current technologies; serve as a member of division and college committees; and perform other professional duties as are required by contract and general institutional needs.   Requirements: 1. Master's in Fine Arts, Art, or Art History OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in Humanities OR hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Instructor Credential in Fine and Applied Arts and Re-lated Technologies (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990) OR the equivalent (see below).
NOTE: "Master's in Fine Arts" as used here refers to any Master's degree in the subject matter of fine arts, which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and metal and jewelry art; and also art education and art therapy. It does not refer to the "Master of Fine Arts" (MFA) degree when that degree is based on specialization in performing arts or dance, film, video, photography, creative writing, or other non-plastic arts.)

2. Ability to communicate effectively with persons of diverse cultures and language groups, and people who have disabilities. Demonstrated sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with disabilities, in both day and evening settings.
