Description

General Statement: This is an ongoing application pool for Instructors that is reviewed on an as needed basis. As Instructors are needed to teach specific courses at the campuses, selections will be made from among this pool of applicants for all campuses- Skyline College, College of San Mateo, Cañada College. If you do not receive a response this could be because there is no position at a particular campus available at the present time or that the position/s have already been filled.

District Selection Process: Required application materials will be screened by a committee on the basis of Requirements and Desirable Skills and Abilities listed in this announcement. Please send application, resume, cover letter, and online portfolio when applying.   Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions include the following:
Teach college courses in Multimedia and/or Web Design. In addition faculty are required to assist in curriculum revisions and new course development, consult with students during office and lab hours and maintain expertise in current technologies; and perform other professional duties as are required by contract and general institutional needs.   Requirements: 1. Bachelor's degree in fine arts or a related field OR hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Instructor Credential (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990) OR the equivalent (See below). A Master's degree is preferred.

2. Must have three years experience working in the field of Multimedia/Web Design.

3. Two years of experience in instruction or formalized education process, preferably in a post-secondary or college institution.

4. Experience in a variety of multimedia development software tools, including the Adobe CS5 package.

5. Experience in scripting: CSS, JavaScript, and ActionScript

6. Competency in the use of supporting software such as the Microsoft OS and Office Suite and a variety of internet browsers.

7. Membership in a professional association tied to the area of instruction preferred.

8. Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.

9. Experience in Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Illustrator
10. Proficient in hand-coding XHTML and CSS
11. Traditional graphic design training
12. Basic knowledge of Flash and QuickTime
13. Energetic and with good communication skills
14. Industry experience either in a design studio or freelancing
15. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to build successful relationships with student populations.
16. Outstanding conflict resolution skills.
17. Demonstrated time management and detail-oriented skills
18.
