Forward-thinking, fast paced company looking to hire an intern with strong knowledge and understanding of event photography, communications and the digital media landscape, including various social media websites.
The company is currently celebrating our 10-year anniversary in the Chicago market. The intern hired for this position will need strong critical thinking skills in order to integrate into our vibrant and passionate team. We are very excited to fill this position with a candidate looking to gain some great practical business experience.
Throughout this program, you will be working with one of the Midwest region's top online news, entertainment and daily lifestyle portals to Chicago's vibrant community.
In addition to the local and breaking news, dining and movie reviews, and a city-wide events calendar that appeal to all visitors and residents of Chicago, we provide fresh, focused articles, feature columns and travel content to our readership.
We're looking for energetic interns who are passionate about taking photographs on a daily or weekly basis - which may include photos from charity galas to nightlife events and business openings to breaking news photos. In addition, we're looking for candidates interested in working with social media and looking to learn innovative ways of using social media to help shape their success.
We are willing to work with any level college student. Majors which would best fit the internship include: Photography, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, and Marketing, but we like to "think outside of the box" and would consider other majors which capabilities who express interest. The internship is not paid, however there are many opportunities to receive excellent practical experience and you may receive educational credit for your experience based on your college's requirements.

Responsibilities
Assist Publishing staff with photographing events (nightlife events, breaking news, charity galas)
- Monitor and post on blogs, forums, and social networks
- Learn about and help innovate advanced integrated mobile marketing, online marketing & advertising campaigns
- Collaborate with Brand Marketing and Digital departments for immediate posting of photo galleries to the website
Requirements
Students applying for this internship should be local (Chicago or Los Angeles) enthusiastic learners who can work approximately 8-10 hours a week (you can work on your own time, but would need to join in a Skype or conference phone call once a week), who enjoy working with the publishing industry and social media, and who are able to work an 8-10 week internship program.
Majors which would best fit the internship include: Photography, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations and Marketing, but we like to "think outside of the box" and would consider other majors (or hobbyists) with capabilities who express interest.
