Description

Work with Grassroots Manager, and other Public Affairs staff as needed, to engage affiliate communities in advocacy work. Tasks include: event coordination, volunteer recrutiment, communication with partner organizations, and face-to-face interaction with community.

Responsibilities

Gain fundamental knowledge of grassroots community organizing, eletoral work and PPSP's various educational campaigns throughout the year. Build networking skills by fostering relationships with community organizations and partners. Maintain accurate records on projects, attendance, and volunteer hours. Conduct event evaluation and recommend improvements to Grassroots Manager. Play a key role in expanding PPSP's presence in communities throughout our service area. Foster the skills of recruiting and coordinating community presence and volunteer outreach. Will work with Online Advocacy Manager, Grassroots Manager, Publica Affairs Directors, and Vice President of Public Affairs to gain experience in all facets of Public Affairs work. Administrative work is involved in all internships.

Requirements

Commitment to goals and mission of Planned Parenthood Shasta Pacific. Excellent communication skills- both written and oral. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Interest in the legislative and electoral side of reproductive health issues. Experience in grassroots organizing, volunteer recruitment, and/or community engagement. Must be reliable and prompt. Ability to lift and move boxes of supplies.
