DescriptionA Polysomnographic Technologist performscomprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis, associated interventions, treatment of sleep disorders, patient care and education under the general oversight of the clinical Director or Supervisor. A Polysomnographic Technologist can perform the duties defined for a Polysomnographic Technician and may provide oversight of other staff.
REQUIRED: successful completion of an A STAR-designated focused education program OR both a STAR-designated self-study education program AND a STAR-designated focused 2 program; a minimum of twelve (12) months of clinical experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist that includes on-site polysomnography duties performed as direct patient recording and/or scoring; documented participation in an average of ten (10) hours per year AMA PRA Category 1 CME or CEC sleep-related educational activities over a three (3) year period; certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic or equivalent; current registration with the Medical Board of California as a Polysomnographic Technologist; current AHA BLS/CPR certification; comply with the BRPT standards of conduct
