Academic-Year Internship Program: runs from September through April
Summer Internship Program: runs from June through August

American Student Assistance ® (ASA) is seeking an energetic undergraduate intern to join our Product Management team. The Product Management intern will gain valuable, hands-on experience in brand management and product development of SALTTM, a membership program that was created to help students take charge of their finances during college and beyond. Our interns attend staff meetings and contribute to marketing, social media and product development strategy. The interns also meet with fellow interns for skill development projects and events throughout the program. This is a paid internship and the candidate needs to be available to work 15-25 hours per week.
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (e.g., in order to be considered to perform this position, the person must be able to perform essential duties and responsibilities listed below):
Collaborate with Product Owners and web development teams on product features and enhancements to ensure that the most optimal experience is being provided to SALT users.
Contribute to product planning and product development discussions related to the SALT product roadmap.
Work with Product Development/Management departments to serve as a direct contributor on a new large scale online community product offering.
Directly participate in the design and implementation of and internal, corporate based support ticketing structure.
Provide corporate level support on all issues related to our web product and core system function offerings.
Assist in the development and launch of a support and development based ‘wiki’ web platform
Gain an understanding of common industry software development methodologies; including shadowing senior team members throughout the Agile software development process utilized at ASA.
Identify the needs and desires of SALT’s core demographic and develop interactive concepts that can satisfy unmet needs.
Provide an end user point of view, opinions and feedback on Marketing and Product Development initiatives in a constructive manner
Participate in QA and UAT of all deliveries.
Facilitate and represent Product Management on various internal project teams.
All other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in ASA’s professional development program for interns.
Participate in Marketing & Product Development strategy meetings.
Participate in focus groups to provide constructive end user point of view, opinions and feedback on Marketing and Product.

Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Related field
Relevant majors might include: Managing Info Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration and Management, Marketing or similar
Experience working within a customer-focused environment a plus
Strong candidates will possess tech savviness & curiosity.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office is a must.
Strong critical thinking, written and verbal communication skills.
Proactive, creative, hardworking and energetic.
Candidates may be asked to provide samples of work.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be flexible, hard-working, willing to learn and a team player.
Familiarity with saltmoney.org, blog.saltmoney.org and asa.org preferred.
Passion about higher education or non-profit marketing is always a plus
