Description
The Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce has an immediate opening for an intern in its Government Affairs department. This internship provides an opportunity to experience the Northern Virginia business community's involvement with advocacy and gain familiarity with the Chamber’s legislative agenda including energy, education health care tax and revenue, local government and commerce.
This position offers exposure to the Northern Virginia business community, various employers in the county, flexible hours, complimentary networking events, free parking, convenient Tysons location, a collegial atmosphere and a business casual dress code. This is an unpaid position which begins immediately and will continue through December. Potential for extension beyond that point with the agreement of both parties.

Responsibilities
The Intern will be responsible for policy communications including press releases, white papers and member communications, administrative tasks such as mailings, PAC filings and policy meeting preparation and other relevant duties as assigned.
Requirements
Requirements: excellent organizational and communications skills – both oral and written; must be proficient in Microsoft Office; must possess working familiarity with government at the local, state and federal levels. Candidate should be seeking a degree in government or public policy. Must be willing to work with local delegation while remaining non-partisan.Related work experience and/or coursework preferred.
