As a PhD intern at PG, you will be working on projects that will expand your capabilities (that can be completed within 10-12 weeks) and will be meaningfully related to your classroom and research education. For this internship position, we are seeking a Doctoral Summer Intern to work with us investigating the adhesion and deposition of unique materials on consumer relevant surfaces. The individual will investigate interactions between formulation components such as polymers, surfactants and/or oils and surfaces of interest. The individual will use the information to develop structure-property relationships linking formulation components to deposition and performance. The individual should have a strong background in colloid and interfacial chemistry, polymers, or emulsions/surfactants. At PG, intern sessions are considered temporary employment, with a predicted ending point. No full-time employment commitments are made; however, depending on satisfactory completion of certain criteria, candidates may be considered for full-time positions uponobtaining their PhD. The preferred period for the 10 to 12 week internship isMay to August. The internship is a paid, full-time, 40 hour per week position. Hourly rates are based on the student's academic year completed. Candidatesshould attend graduate school in a US State or territory, beenrolled in a STEM PhD graduate program of studyand be eligible to work in the United States. Other qualified candidates, including foreign nationals that require US work authorization for full time employment, will also be considered for participation. Additional Job Requirements:
- Ability to prepare formulations and evaluate formulations for performance.
- Ability to characterize colloidal and physical properties of formulations under various conditions and Develop structure-property relationships.
- Ability to communicate results to team members and Summarize work in technical report and presentation.
- Working knowledge of polymer science, colloid/emulsion science, and/or surfactant phase chemistry is desirable.
- Working knowledge of colloidal physical characterization tools is desirable.
- Working knowledge of contact angle/interfacial tension measurements is desirable.
- Working knowledge of rheology is desirable.
