The Fund for the Public Interest
44 Winter St. 4th Floor
The Fund for the Public Interest is a non-profit group started in 1982. Our mission is to build support for the nation’s top progressive non-profit groups and help them win their campaigns. Over the last 29 years, we’ve helped over 40 organizations widen their base of support, including Environment America, USPIRG, Fair Share Alliance, Environmental Action and the Human Rights Campaign. We tend to focus our work on the most critical environmental and social justice issues. Last year, our offices helped update the Clean Water Act, repeal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and make elementary school lunches healthier.
To ensure success on our Summer 2012 campaigns, this spring we are hiring leaders from the top colleges across the country to work on our campaign staff. We will be visiting schools to hold information sessions and interviews, posting online, using social media to spread the word and contacting students all over the country.
ResponsibilitiesThe Recruitment Outreach Intern will work with our team of professional recruiters to run this project, including outreaching to career centers to schedule visits, using social media and online job postings to find candidates, responding to candidates’ inquiries about the positions, and helping asses our progress. There is a lot going on in our office, so the internship can be catered toward a specific aspect of the office that you are most interested in.
RequirementsThe ideal candidate will have a strong passion for environmental and social justice issues, be a hard worker ready to learn with hands-on experience, and have a good sense of humor. Leadership and project management experience a plus.
