Research Organization: Multicultural Music Group, Inc. (MMG) Research Funding Source: William T. Grant Foundation PI: Dr. Luis Mojica Research Title: The Effect of Exposing Middle and High School Students to Global Historical Events, Curriculum Integration and Aesthetic Experiences in an After School Music Program The Multicultural Music Group is seeking two (2) part-time Research Assistants to work with an Experimental Research in the schools of the South Bronx and Washington Heights. The Assistants will be part of the Research Team which is composed by Dr. Mojica, MMG Executive Director and Professor of Education; Dr. Generosa Vazquez, Project Analyst and Professor of Education; Dr. Harold Abeles, External Evaluator and Professor of Education. The Research Team will meet on a weekly basis and assesses program services and infrastructural implementation. The Experimental Research schedule is from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Mondays through Fridays.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities: - Assist in the random selection of students - Assist in the collection of data related to the students and related literature - Assist with Pre, Mid and Post testing of students - Assist with interviews and observations at the schools - Assist with the analysis of students’ journals, teachers logs and summative portfolios - Assist with the preparation of project’s reports Compensation and Benefits: Traveling per diem and validation of research hours.

Requirements

Required credentials & skills: - Candidates should possess excellent writing and computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel), and database management skills. - The Candidates must be experienced with educational research. - She/he should also be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up processes - Should be able to effectively work under pressure, use independent judgment and produce a quality work product within tight time constraints. - Comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish crucial aspects in this type of research. - Completed Bachelors degree and be enrolled in a Master or Doctorate Program in the Social Sciences or Humanities Please provide work samples and references with credentials.
