DescriptionHSP provides hands-on experience in the operation of a highly regarded not-for-profit.
The mission of the Senior Citizen Project is to provide nutritional food for the needy elderly in DuPage and Kane Counties every month of the year, and thereby alleviate the suffering and humiliation that poverty brings.
We offer unpaid internships designed to fit your schedule within our regular work hours of Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m (9-5:30 during November and December.) We prefer our interns work 20 hours a week over a period of 3 months or longer if possible.
ResponsibilitiesSenior Citizen Project Interns will:
• Assist the Senior Citizen Project Coordinator in the day-to-day management of the program and sub-programs.
• Help coordinate and lead volunteer groups.
• Communicate daily with donors and clients.
• Help organize food, personal care, and paper drives to provide for the needy seniors in the program.
Requirements•Comfortable with using basic computer operations in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
•Must be very comfortable with phone work
•Ability to speak Spanish is beneficial but not required
