Description

Sidelines (http://sidelinesapp.com) is a new start-up focused on high quality discussions about sports. We’ve built a small, close knit community of passionate sports fans: Fans who believe in insightful discussion around sports sprinkled with a dash of humor. This isn't a place for trolls or fair-weather fans: We don't want people in our community whose definition of an interesting argument is "Lol (Insert Team Name) sux ..." It is our goal to make Sidelines the best place on the Web for fans to discuss their favorite sports and teams, and the key to our plan for world domination are Sidelines Community Managers. A Sidelines Community Manager is a leader of the Sidelines Community. A Community Manager sets the tone for other members of Sidelines, elevates the quality of discussions that he or she participates in, and helps grow the community.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of a Sidelines Community Manager is to make responses to as many posts as possible. Sidelines is essentially a collection of individual Communities dedicated to specific sports and each Community comprises a number of posts on topics relevant to that Community. Responses from MVPs help set the tone and direction for all conversations on Sidelines. Community Managers also grow the Sidelines community by inviting friends and acquaintances who are passionate, smart sports fans to join Sidelines, as well as using social media and other channels to promote the site. Finally, Community Managers work with Lead Community Managers (more on them later) to create a select number of posts on Sidelines based on interesting, hot sports topics. There are many benefits of being a Sidelines community manager. First off, you'll get to be a part of, and more importantly lead a smart, fun, passionate community of sports fans. In addition, you will gain valuable, first-hand experience of working with an early-stage startup, learn about entrepreneurship, building online communities, the social web, raising angel investment and you will get to hone your social media skills. After 15 days of being a Community Manager, you get a cool badge on your profile and on all your posts designating your status as an 'MVP'. After 45 days of being an Community Manager, you can get a set of official Sidelines Business Cards with your name on them, and with the title of Community Manager. After 90 days of being an MVP, you will get an official certificate acknowledging your contribution to Sidelines. In addition, you can request the Sidelines management team for recommendation letters for future employers, as well as use us as official references for any future endeavors. If you are majoring in Marketing, Communications, Business or related majors, we can work with your college to get you credit(s) for your work with Sidelines. We’ll set you up with a mentor who will guide you as you go along. The cream of the Community Manager crop will be selected to be Lead Community Managers, which can eventually lead to a full-time position at Sidelines. Lead Community Managers are in charge of an entire Community on Sidelines and decide the direction and growth strategy for the Communities that they manage.

Requirements

All you need to qualify for being a Sidelines Community Manager is a passion for sports (NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, College Football or Basketball, MLS or EPL) If you're crazy about Curling, Lacrosse and nothing else, then more power to you but you probably won't make the cut), and the ability to make smart, thoughtful comments about the hot topics and current events in the sports that you love. Also, you can work from anywhere in the world! No prior work experience is necessary.
