Organizational Objective/Purpose:
The Client and Trading Solutions Security Master/Fund Management team within Schwab’s Technology Services is responsible for the firm’s Security Master, AMSA Billing, Fund Center and Mutual Funds Marketplace applications. We work closely with our business partners to provide timely, responsive and high quality support for these critical business applications. The applications are a combination of mainframe and distributed systems (Java and .net), and the team handles all new development, enhancement, maintenance and production support activities.
Brief Description of Role:
The associate position is an entry level role. Associates will be required to learn how to effectively maneuver required workflow process that includes technical governance, source control, change control, code review and proper documentation of changes. Associates will spend time shadowing with our business partners to get in depth knowledge of the business applications we support while building relationships with the business partners. Associates will be mentored by our senior staff members on assigned programming tasks to ensure they are following Schwab coding standards and learning proven technics for developing business application programs. Associates will also be introduced to production support functions working closely with seniors to learn how to determine the critical nature of a problem, when and how to escalate and effective debugging skills.
Technical/Functional Qualifications:
This position requires a highly motivated and well-organized person with a technical aptitude and eagerness to learn. Working effectively with team members and business partners is essential for the success of this role. Associates in this role must be able to manage a dynamic workload, keeping track of work priorities and escalating issues when appropriate. Clear and concise oral and written communication skills are essential as well as the ability to give informal presentations and actively participate in meetings.
