DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The mission of the Professional Services Team is to provide detailed business support during the sales and post sales process for our RFID, Traffic and EAS solutions. This group is comprised of four core teams: Program Management, Business Solutions, Solution Architecture, and Implementation Management. These teams work together on projects with additional internal support from Operations, Product Management, and Development teams to ensure that the software is delivered and installed properly. All of our deliverables require a custom installation to ensure that it meets the needs of both small and large retailers. It's imperative that all of the teams work in unison to assure that we deliver excellent results. JOB OVERVIEW The Solution Architect (SA) Intern is a key member of the Global Solution Architecture Team within TRS Professional Services. The SA Intern will contribute to overall system design for both pilot and rollout programs, stage implementations, establish best practices and supporting collateral, and contribute to the overall roadmap of the team. Roles Responsibilities Develop and test system designs to be deployed in real-world scenarios, mapping solutions to many different data-providing sensors and integration points. Establish best practice toolkits for SOAP-based integration points. Establish standardized documentation for integration best practices. Establish a library of system architectures that can be leveraged for current and future rollout opportunities. Assist in the development of customer facing collateral, including presentations, solution overview documents, and other various tools. Assist in the development of testing methodology and staging practices. Collaborate with Product Management and subject matter experts to enhance the TRS platform offerings. Perform system testing in staging environments established to mirror that of real-world systems to ensure smooth upgrades to our customers.
Education Working towards Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or similar degree) with an expectation to graduate 12/2014 or 5/2015. Experience System architecture and design. Networking. Experience and interest in Retail systems a plus. Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Experience with system, network, and application design.
- Must possess the ability to understand the network and system environment of Fortune 100 retailers.
- Must possess the ability to develop, document, and present network and system solution integration plans.
- Must possess the ability to develop, document, and present software integration options and plans for integrating Tyco solutions into the end customer environment.
- SOAP Web Service Integration experience a plus.
- Application Development experience a plus.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, both in groups and one-on-one interaction for effective presentations.
