Description
Reporting to the Southern California Development Officer, the Special Events Intern (unpaid) provides pre-event, on-site and post-event assistance for special events coordinated by NatureBridge for the purpose of increasing connections with current donors and prospective donors, assisting specifically with the Annual Hike-A-Thon on Sunday, May 5, 2013.
Responsibilities
Assists with tasks related to the Development Department events including, but not limited to, data entry, creation and distribution of event invitations, shipping/transport of event related supplies, placing orders for event equipment from vendors, check-in of guests at events, handling guest reservations, event record keeping, event trend research and other tasks as assigned. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, creative thinking and a passion for events and creating high-quality guest experience. Office work includes, but is not limited to, answering and returning phone calls, follow-up with inquiries, computer data-entry, and assistance with correspondence and event files

To be successful in this position, an individual should be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requested experience listed below is representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability needed to be successful in this position. The successful candidate will be expected to understand and provide basic information about NatureBridge and our programs in the Santa Monica Mountains and Channel Islands. An ideal candidate will possess a substantial combination of all these desired qualifications.
Current undergraduate student in hospitality, marketing, communications or business with strong interest in special events, non-profit organizations, environmental causes and/or education, especially in California, will be considered.
The Special Events Intern must be neat, clean, and well groomed while performing job duties.
