Description

Canyon News is a weekly adjudicated newspaper of general circulation covering all the hills of Los Angeles, including Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Griffith Park, Hollywood Hills, Los Feliz, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Topanga Canyon, West Hollywood and Westwood. The newspaper first started in the writing room of Orson Welles in the Hollywood Hills. Therefore, the newspaper emulates a 1933 Daily News with old-fashioned values but with modern principles. The mission of the paper is to provide our readers with the truth. All news is completely unbiased. Canyon News will never endorse a political candidate. The internship program is the only way to become a permanent staff member. You learn how to do it our way as well as work as a team while striving to be your best.

Responsibilities

Interns will learn various areas of the company. We treat everyone equally. You will not be the door man or the Starbucks runner or the mail person. You will be like everyone else in the company, just without the responsibility of being "perfect." You will have a chance to learn the departments you desire. Writers will write. Working independently on your assignments is expected. We don't hand-hold. Canyon News has two sister papers and 7 more newspapers launching before 2012. Interns are allowed to work from home. We also encourage people from all over the country to take part in this opportunity.

Requirements

Good candidates will be: -willing to approach all assignments without any bias or slant. -energetic, self-motivated and excited about working in the field of journalism. -great team players. -unassuming in all areas of life. -positive with a great sense of humor. -able to leave their ego at the door. -professionally dressed. Experience is great but not necessary. People skills and self-motivation are a must.
