Description
LifeCity is seeking a graduate student with a sustainability and accounting/data organizing background to assist in measuring outcomes of sustainability initiatives across our clients. By identifying key sustainability metrics and developing a system to track data across clients, the Sustainability Date Manager will support our Business Certification Program by providing quantitative measures of the impacts of LifeCity membership overtime. This internship would require 5-10 hours per week and is not compensated.Professional Development: Access to sustainability and community data from local organizations, networking experiences with local green companies and organizations, greater understanding of social entrepreneurship and green business development, and satisfaction of helping develop a more sustainable NOLA!

Responsibilities
Analyze green certification assessment data gathered from LifeCity clientsReview survey assessment, existing data, and formulas for tracking carbon emissions, water, and waste reduction
Analyze survey data to see trends across clients
Develop measurement methodology to improve our ability to measure results across our members to be used in our annual sustainability business competition
Include practical recommendations that can be used in our sales and assessment process
Measure financial impacts of LifeCity sustainability solutions across clients
Support the research and development of the LifeCity Index (similar to Harper’s Index)
This index will measure community-level impacts of the Impact Economy such as # of community gardens in our city or the # of zero waste events.
Requirements
Ideal candidate is engaged in research related to local sustainability issuesThoroughly enjoys research and analytics-based tasks
Excels at presenting information and conclusions in easy to understand formats
Has strong communication skills and works effectively on her/his own
Has the ability to see the big picture, yet build a detailed system that supports a larger vision or goal
Has strong understanding of excel or other analytical programs
Works well independently and self-disciplined
Passion for promoting a sustainable community
