7227 Rampart, Building A
DescriptionWill be responsible for the daily administration of servers running Linux, Mac OS X & Windows.
Our infrastructure is small but challenging. We currently maintain approximately 10 physical servers, from basic rack mounted HP, IBM and Apple XServes, to HP blade systems. We use VMWare virtualization extensively. Our virtualized infrastructure, along with our Video production department, makes extensive use of our fiber SAN, which is a mixture of IBM and Promise VTrak technology.
We fully embrace the open source movement, and make extensive use of many open source technologies, such as almost exclusive use of Linux for our infrastructure back-end, Asterisk for our PBX system, Apache, MySQL and PHP for our internal systems, and Java for many other internal projects.
Our network infrastructure is a modern Meraki cloud managed system, providing up to 10 Gigabit copper, fiber and 802.11n WiFi networks that are used throughout our facility, which encompasses approximately 8 buildings situated on over 80,000sq ft in southwest Houston.
We have a 3-year renewal cycle for most of our hardware, so we regularly have new and exciting technologies to play with and learn. We believe in ensuring that we have the resources necessary to function effectively, and we believe that trying to limp along with 10 year old technology is not only counterproductive, but not much fun!
We have recently replaced most of our Apple servers (JSS, Open Directory, AFP, etc) with Linux equivalents, and are seeking someone with the expertise with heterogenous environments to continue our efforts to integrate and improve these systems.
We also have many exciting and challenging projects planned for the future, such deploying tablet computers to our production work areas and mobile personnel within and around the facility to continue our efforts towards a paperless environment.

Will be required to suggest and improve system design and architecture to address the needs of a growing company with quickly evolving technology requirements.

The workload will be approximately 80% Linux, 10% Mac OS X, 10% Windows.
