DescriptionWyle is seeking an individual with specialized skills in system administration, installation, and maintenance in an advanced circuit design environment consisting of commercial and government developed electronic design software. The selected applicant will represent Wyle and DoD customers in outside discussions and technical forums. This position may require some travel.
Duties include: 1) Interfaces with end users to independently resolve problems concerning system function(s) related to the overall performance of 40+ linux machines; 2) Reviews assessments of diagnostic information and determines alternatives; 3) Maintains currency regarding technological, process/or other advances, specifically in line of service, to ensure team performance and to achieve team objectives; 4) Provides data for daily metric reporting; 5)Provides systems software and hardware documentation and assesses system information where appropriate; 6)Recommends and implements enhancements in order to ensure efficiencies; 7) Analyzes, logs, tracks and resolves software/hardware matters of significance pertaining to networking connectivity issues, printer, servers, and applications to meet business needs; 8) Performs troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system problems; 9) Documents system events to ensure continuous functioning. Recommends course of action and implements as approved; 10) Upgrades system software and hardware components as required to meet business needs; 11) Coordinates backups and ensures upgrades are occurring in accordance with established parameters; and 12) Installs, tests, upgrades and configures system files and services to enhance performance.
Bachelors Degree or equivalent knowledge acquired through practical experience and formal education is required. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science is desired.
Experience with netapp or equivalent network attached storage systems is desired.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The applicant must be familiar with the RedHat enterprise operating system or comparable Linux distributions, installation, maintenance, port security, backup, and shell scripting (C, C++, Java). Additional requirements include good organizational skills to balance and prioritize work and the ability to multitask; good analytical and problem solving skills in order to troubleshoot systems problems; good communication skills to communicate with support personnel, customers, and managers; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Familiarity with installation and maintenance of advanced Cadence Design Systems IC design flow, Synopsys, and Mentor Graphics tools is a plus.
