Information Services supports all phases of a system implementation or upgrade project and provides production services such as recommending improvements to strategy, system usage, or process through the application of business and technology skill sets. Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including configuration, testing, debugging, and documenting applications. Consults with customers to identify current operation procedures and to clarify program objectives. Additional responsibilities include workflow administration, data management and performing minor modifications to the application.
Required for completely satisfactory performance in this job are knowledge of current business practices and technology systems, interfaces, and standard healthcare software. Familiarity with a variety of hardware and software environments. A working knowledge of the healthcare industry is also required. May be expected to write documentation to describe installation and operation procedures. Familiar with relational databases and web deployed applications. Basic knowledge of the technology that the incumbent will be directly involved with.
For complete satisfactory performance in this job, the incumbent will have knowledge of project management and planning, process mapping, group presentation, written and verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills, ability to analyze the functionality of systems and their fit with specifications. Key skills are observation, curiosity, communication and patience. The ability to troubleshoot basic problems and recommend appropriate action is required. Uses and applies application analyst skills.
Formal Education and Experience
The formal education and experience required for completely satisfactory performance in this job are as follows:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, business administration, healthcare administration, nursing or other related field (four years of related work experience may be substituted for the bachelor¿s degree)
- Three (3) years of experience in hospital information systems.
