Berkshire Playwrights Lab is dedicated exclusively to encouraging, developing, and presenting new plays. While working in a professional and creative environment with established professionals, interns will have a provocative opportunity to share in the dramatic evolution of premiere works. This internship combines a thorough experience in both administration and production providing on the job training in the management office, rehearsal rooms, back stage, and front of house.
Responsibilities
In the Business Office, the intern’s primary responsibility will be to assist the General Manager with the day-to-day operations. Interns interested in developing their business and management abilities will learn skills in program budgets and non-profit financial administration, as well as assisting with box office management, research, special projects, events, database management, and assisting on activities that help promote BPL, enhance public participation, and encourage community awareness.
During production, the intern’s primary responsibility will be to assist the Stage Manager and Production Manager in all areas of mounting the production. Interns interested in developing their production abilities will learn skills in assisting with guest artist management, serving the needs of the director, coordinating rehearsal details, back stage management, and will be able to gain an understanding of how a new play is developed.
Requirements
Applicants must have completed at least three years of college with extensive experience in the theater department and be able to demonstrate a commitment to their chosen field.
