ALA offers professional services and publications to members and nonmembers, including online news stories from American Libraries and analysis of crucial issues from our Washington Office.
Our main office is located in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast, right off of Michigan Ave, with satellite offices in Washington, DC, Connecticut, and Philadelphia.
This internship is in the IT department of our Chicao Office under the supervision of ALA’s Senior Usability Officer.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of ALA’s Senior Usability Officer, this internship provides usability and user experience design assistance of various types. It provides the intern with the opportunity to engage in user experience research, especially synchronous remote research.
The intern will engage in the planning, facilitation, and reporting of usability studies of various kinds, build wireframes and mockups as part of the development, analysis, and documentation of special projects. The intern will also assist with the development of training documentation and procedures for best practices in usability and accessibility for ALA staff.
RequirementsPrimary Accountabilities: Assists SUO with various tasks, including recruiting, study preparation, survey preparation, note taking during studies, analysis of results, presentations of results and suggestions for process improvements.
Preferred: Graduate student in human computer interaction, user experience design, interaction design or related degree. Experience with Photoshop and Axure a plus.
