Description
The design intern helps design and produce pages and process art and photographs. The intern also attends editorial meetings and learns the various production systems used at VAIN LLC. The program aims to introduce the intern to web design and to identify future designers for VAIN LLC.
GRAPHICS
The graphics intern works with the editors, developing the skills to organize and present the news visually through pictures, charts, graphs and diagrams. The intern designs and executes graphics for publication in various divisions of VAIN LLC.
PHOTOGRAPHY
The picture desk intern works with VAIN LLC photographers and editors, shooting assignments for each original content article and researches best visuals to supplement other posts. The goal is to give the intern a taste of news, feature and event photography. The intern is also expected to initiate enterprise projects apart from daily assignments. An editor serves as mentor and works with the intern.
Requirements
Design applicants should submit a portfolio that includes layouts, dummies and typography. The URL for a Web site displaying the portfolio is preferred, but CDs may also be submitted and in this category only, material on paper sent separately is acceptable.
Graphics applicants should submit a cover letter, resume and samples of writing and graphic design work and/or other supporting materials.
Photography applicants should submit a resume and portfolio reflecting a cross-section of their best work: portraits, features, sports and hard news. The URL for a Web site displaying the portfolio is preferred, but CDs may also be submitted. Photography Intern must own a digital SLR camera and photo editing software.
