DescriptionThe Front Porch Center for Technology Innovation and Wellbeing (FPCTIW) explores the innovative uses of technology to empower individuals to live well, especially in their later years. FPCTIW works collaboratively with all stakeholders and in partnership with funding sources, researchers and technology partners. The Volunteer Coordinator will lead the recruiting and clearing process and assist with the coordination and weekly placement of volunteers. This person will report to the FPCTIW director.
The volunteer coordinator is expected to have transportation, a phone and be able to work in Burbank or one of many project sites all over Southern California.
a. Promote volunteer participation for areas such as:
i. Health-related, technology-based activities for a diverse population of senior and disabled residents of the Los Angeles Koreatown neighborhood through the Model eHealth Community for Aging (MeHCA) project.
ii. Activities for our Minding our Meds (MoM) initiative.
b. Nurture the development of community leaders to support project activities.
a. Support scheduled training and workshop activities at the targeted communities.

b. Recruit volunteers, including giving presentations.
c. Organize clearing process for volunteers and check that volunteers cleared before they begin.
d. Enter data from surveys following each workshop.
e. Coordinate the weekly placement of volunteers.
f. Perform follow-up calls with volunteers and project participants.

RequirementsSkills, Knowledge, and Abilities
• Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills; ability to verbally express ideas assertively, clearly.
• Ability to develop strategic direction and also parcel objectives into short-term tasks.
• Excellent organizational skills to determine workload priorities to enable timely completion of tasks; ability to work effectively and independently under pressure with a minimum of direction.
• Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with others to secure necessary information and cooperation from a variety of people.
• Korean/English bi-lingual skills helpful.
Time Commitment and Pay
This is an unpaid, part-time volunteer position during regular workday hours, as agreed upon between the volunteer and the FPCTIW director. The Volunteer Coordinator’s needs are determined 1-2 weeks ahead of time and a certain amount of the work is “on-call.” This Volunteer Coordinator position is available to start immediately.
