DescriptionForward-thinking, fast paced company looking to hire an intern with an intermediate to strong knowledge and understanding of HTML, web development and mobile development.
The company is currently celebrating our 10-year anniversary in the Chicago market. The intern hired for this position will need strong critical thinking skills in order to integrate into our vibrant and passionate team. We are very excited to fill this position with a candidate looking to gain some great practical technology strategy and programming experience.
Throughout this program, you will be working with one of the Midwest region's top online news, entertainment and daily lifestyle portals to Chicago's vibrant community.
In addition to the daily local and breaking news, dining and movie reviews, and a city-wide events calendar that appeal to all visitors and residents of Chicago, we provide fresh, focused articles, feature columns and travel content to our readership.
We're looking for energetic interns who have an interest in creating fun and creative website and mobile app solutions. You'll be provided with on-the-job training to advance your technology skills and will learn competencies ranging from innovative and advanced web integration into social networks, application programming best practices and real world application planing.
We are willing to work with any level college student. Majors which would best fit the internship include any engineering, graphic design or computer background, but we like to "think outside of the box" and would consider other majors which capabilities who express interest. The internship is not paid, however there are many opportunities to receive excellent practical experience and you may receive educational credit for your experience based on your college's requirements.

ResponsibilitiesAssist CIO and development team with developing new solutions to support our ten-year anniversary campaign, website and mobile properties and social networks.
- Learn about and help innovate advanced integrated mobile marketing, online marketing & advertising campaigns
- Assist in updating and freshening our online presence and learn the 360 degree web development experience (graphic design, HTML/CSS design, software design, software architecture and server architecture)
- Assist in developing iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows 8 apps with our development team
RequirementsStudents applying for this internship should be enthusiastic learners who can work approximately 10-15 hours a week (you can work from home, but would need to attend one meeting a week onsite in Chicago), who enjoy working with new technology, the publishing industry and social media, and who are able to work an 8-12 week internship program.
