Interns with strong writing skills, attention to detail and familiarity with New York City arts scene are sought by the NYC-ARTS websites ***.********.*** ******.***********.***, which profile more than 900 cultural groups and feature their events online and on two free mobile apps, NYC ARTS and ThirteenArts. The sites are the online component of the WNET/Thirteen television show, NYC-ARTS (formerly SundayArts), which is hosted by Paula Zahn and Phippe de Montebello on Thursday nights at 8 pm. NYC-ARTS aims to increase audiences for the city’s world-class institutions and smaller gems, and to inform locals and visitors about the wealth of activities happening in every borough of the city.
Content is entered via content manager system (CMS) and edited by the online editor and senior online editor.

Responsibilities:
Write calendar listings specified by the senior online editor, adhering to style
Recommend coverage by researching organizations’ calendars and programming
Acquire photo permissions and edit images for event postings based on protocol
Fact check and update organization/venue profiles
Assist with and encourage participation from New York City cultural groups
NYC-ARTS welcomes interns with interest in the arts, and especially those with a background or interest in jazz and classical music. There are approximately 250 music organizations on nyc-arts.org, but coverage of events also includes music at museums, libraries and other multidisciplinary cultural organizations. The intern will ensure that jazz, opera and classical music events at nonprofit cultural groups in the five boroughs are included on the NYC-ARTS calendars.
Qualifications:
Excellent grammar/writing and communications skills
Good editorial judgment (especially for spotting missing details) and ability to work independently
Ability to conduct sometimes repetitive tasks quickly
A keen interest in the arts; active participation in the arts a plus
Excellent computer skills and knowledge of html and social media tools
Time Commitment
Opportunities for internships are available on a rolling basis at NYC-ARTS. Hours are flexible but interns will be required to work 12-24 hours per week for a two-to-three-month period.
