Tyler Arboretum is seeking a student for our Youth Education Internship. This is a great opportunity to gain programming experience at a small, non-profit arboretum. The intern will help the Youth Education Coordinator enhance, plan and implement field trips, scout groups, birthdays and public programs. Applicants should have strong attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a positive personality. Internship is part-time, non-paid. Schedule is flexible. Internship runs January 2013 through May 2013.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
• Assist Youth Education Coordinator with program planning, enhancement and implementation
• Update Facebook page with relevant information regarding youth education programs.
• Update online calendars with youth programs
• Help develop an initiative to involve families and teachers through a blog or other web-based forum
• Help with maintenance and organization of non-formal education department
Requirements
Minimum requirements:
• Currently pursuing a degree in education, natural sciences or other related field.
• Ability to work with children of all ages
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Strong written and communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, particularly MS Office
