Description
Assist in all aspects of library service with an emphasis on running the summer reading program and increasing literacy in early and middle childhood. Internship runs June and July, but can be separated into 2 1-month internships. Hobson City is the oldest, incorporated black community in Alabama, founded in 1899. The library serves a community of approximately 870 people with 75-100 students participating in the summer reading program. Hours will be approximately 17-20 per week.
Responsibilities
Intern will be responsible for confirming speakers, performers for activities and running story time and other summer reading activities.
Requirements
Must pass a background check to work with children. Would prefer some coursework in education, psychology, library science or technology. Must ENJOY working with small children.
