The Buyer/Expeditor position is responsible for the following:
• Process purchase orders for inventory and expense items as necessary
• Expediting purchase orders to ensure on time delivery and accuracy of receiving dates
• Resolving purchase order discrepancies, including pricing, quantities, shortages and receiving.
• Manage supplier performance using reporting and key performance metrics.
• Creating and processing vendor returns and providing timely information and follow-up with Distribution Centers.
• Resolve SCAR’s (Supplier Correction Action Reports) and follow up on resolutions.
• Confer with suppliers to coordinate shipping and communicate with DC’s to arrange deliveries.
• Work directly with Demand Planner to ensure inventory accuracy and customer fill rate targets are achieved.
• Work with customer forecast information and data to support inventory planning.
• Manage the freight logistics for inbound deliveries from Supplier to our Distribution Centers, striving for best total cost solution.
This position involves a wide range of interpersonal contacts both with Distribution Centers, inside suppliers, as well as outside supplier network. Successful candidates will have analytical, strong communication, organizational, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills. Candidates must be able to operate effectively in a fast-paced team environment but also maintaining attention to detail.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's degree.
• 1-3 years of experience in purchasing preferred but not required.
• Retail or industrial distribution inventory management experiences a plus.
• Candidate will be required to spend time in distribution centers to learn all aspects of the operations and build relationships with internal customers. Travel may be required.
• Detailed-oriented with an ability to analyze and understand large volumes of data.
• Must be able to multi-task and work well under pressure
• Proficient with Excel spreadsheets. Proven AS400 experience preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as sales reports, operating instructions, and training and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, costs, proportions, and volumes.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram (graphic) form. Ability to solve a variety of problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited information or standardization exists. High attention to detail.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear, stand, and sit. Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
