WETA Public Television and Classical 90.9 FM provides internship opportunities designed to help expand students' knowledge and experience in public media and compliment their studies. Local History interns work within WETA’s Digital Media team to support the launching of a local history section of weta.org. This section will include articles, photos and video related the history of Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia and the notable events, personalities and happenings that have shaped WETA’s local community. Responsibilities

Interns will assist in identifying, researching and writing content pieces for the website and making contacts with local history organizations and professionals. Interns may be required to make research trips to local libraries, archives and historical societies. Requirements

Intern candidates should be current students or recent college graduates with a preferred major in History, Museum Studies, or related field. Must have interest in local history and community, excellent writing and research skills, and careful attention to detail. Knowledge of HTML and web blogging platforms a plus. To be eligible, interns must be currently enrolled in a college or university or have graduated within 12 months from the beginning of the internship. Interns may receive academic credit for their internship if approved and arranged by their educational institution.
