Estimator - Metro West Our client is one of the leading specialty contractors in the Massachusetts . Our employees are the lifeblood of our company. Our client is seeking an Estimatorwith at least 2 years of estimating experience for its Interior operations based in Massachusetts. This individual will estimate metal framing, drywall and plaster/EIFS for commercial construction projects and is responsible for the following duties:
  • Performing quantitative takeoffs on construction projects
  • Establish labor productivities for estimate
  • Maintain positive relationships with area vendors for competitive material and equipment pricing.
  • Solicit subcontractor pricing for work done outside of our self-perform group.
  • Understand the market conditions including competitive approach, backlog, level or risk for work and other factors for establishing margin percentages.
  • Be involved in the internal bid reviews with supervisors and project team.
  • Participate in the customer alignment objectives of the branch by creating and maintaining positive customer relations.
  • Contract administration for secured projects.
  • Prepare wage and benefit schedules.
  • Assist in the hand-off of secured projects to the Operations Team.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned such as change order management or billings depending on the project(s).
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years' experience
  • Experience in Federal, State and Municipal projects
  • Estimating experience in metal framing, drywall, plaster/EIFS preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science or related field
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong ability to read, understand and interpret specifications and drawings for the companies scopes of work
  • Must have skilled knowledge of estimating techniques, On Center software and databases
  • Sharp understanding of bidding process
  • Ability to visualize various building techniques
  • Superb communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and moral ethics with the ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to foresee problems and take corrective actions
  • OSHA Certification
  • Positive attitude and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Thrives in a team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Continued development of technical skills
  • Ability to work with customers building strong, continued relationships
