Job Description

Duties involve abstracting inpatient diagnosis and procedures from the medical record, and assigning the appropriate codes following ICD9-CM and/or CPT-4 coding guidelines to insure proper payment.  The coder must be proficient in coding DRG based as well as other payer accounts.

Qualifications:Bachelor of Science or Associates Degree in Health Information Management required. AHIMA, RHIT, or CCS certification required. Two years previous coding experience, preferably in an acute care facility required.  Knowledge of ICD9-CM/CPT-4 coding systems, medical terminology, coding conventions, encoder and medical record functions knowledge required.
