Job Description

The Department of Homeland Security’s mission is to secure the nation from the many threats we face. Their duties are wide-ranging, and their goal is clear — keeping America safe.

We are looking for an experienced Interior Design Project Manager to oversee office space build-outs, reconfigurations, and management for Customs and Border Protection in the Washington D.C. area.

Responsibilities:

·         Provide support in management, control, coordination, and execution of projects involving complex and long-term leasing, space acquisition, and/or construction management.

·         Coordinate the following facility planning requirements:  IT, Security, furniture procurement and configuration and construction

·         Coordinate cradle-to-grave project development; work with customers and other team members to help understand need and develop plan to move forward; PR development, concept drawings, etc.

·         Assist in obtaining approvals for historic preservation design reviews and building code modifications.

·         Coordination of furniture procurement and installation within construction timelines.

·         Responsible for selecting finish materials and furniture as well as creating finish boards and maintaining interiors library.

Qualifications:

·         B.S. or BA in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management or closely related field

·         5-10 years of an architectural or Interior Design background is strongly desired

·         Extensive experience in space planning, furniture procurement, move coordination, design experience

·         Proven experience with build-outs but mainly renovation, and retro-fitting existing buildings to fit the client’s needs

·         Knowledge and experience working within federal budgets and their constraints

·         PMP Certification preferred but not required

·         Proficient in the use of AutoCAD

·         Strong communication skills both oral & written

·         Well rounded individual with the ability to work in a dynamic environment

·         Able to work independently and with a team to meet aggressive deadlines
